“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” ~ Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Too Tired for Battle

Moms today are up against a whole lot and the enemy uses our busy, stretched too thin lives to keep us worn out, weary, unable to rest and too tired for fight the real battles that are waging for our hearts and the hearts of our children.

When we’re tired and weary, we lose sight and perspective of what’s important, who we are in Christ, our purpose as moms and are unable to enjoy the journey of motherhood.

We become worn out and weary when we take on much more than we can handle. When we overcommit ourselves to tasks that aren’t necessarily God’s assignment for us.

If we’re going to remain strong as Moms for the battles that we face every day, we must start being honest about where we invest our time and energy.

Rest for the Weary

When we try to do it all, we often end up frazzled, overwhelmed and stressed because we think everything depends on us.

The truth is everything depends on God.

In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus beckons us saying “Come to me, all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

“In practical terms, what does it mean to take up the yoke of Christ? It means listening to God for direction. When we take His yoke, we’re taking on the assignments He gives us. Nothing more, nothing less.” – Heidi St. John, Becoming MomStrong Bible Study, pg 86.

We find rest at the feet of Jesus, when we lay down our expectations, hopes and dreams. And take on His dreams, purpose and assignment for us.

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. ~ Psalm 62:1 (NIV)

True Beauty

In a culture that is obsessed with outward beauty, it’s important that we focus on God’s perspective of where true beauty lies.

While the world focuses on the outward appearance, God’s gaze is focused on the inner woman, who we are becoming.

“Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.” ~ 1 Peter 3:3-4 (NLT)

As Moms, the way we think about ourselves will have a direct impact on the way our girls view themselves. So, we must start with what God says about us. We are created in the image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and deeply loved by God.

Our true worth and beauty come from being daughters of the King.

God’s Masterpiece

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.” ~ I Corinthians 6:19 (NLT)

We are God’s beautiful work of creation. And our body is a temple where the Spirit of God dwells. So we should see ourselves as God sees us, His treasured, precious and priceless possession.
