Dear Fellow Mom,
I’m so grateful that you have chosen to invest your precious time into this study. While I may not have the opportunity to sit across the table from you, face to face, to know you personally and to share our hearts about the joys, struggles, fears, hopes, good, and hard seasons of motherhood. I bet we can still connect with each other by what we have in common.
There’s no doubt in my mind that we both desperately love our kids and want to get this motherhood thing right for them. We both desperately want to become better moms but in all our striving for perfection, we keep failing. I did.
From the outside, I may have looked as if I had it all together. But on the inside, I was overwhelmed, desperate, anxious, frustrated and feeling defeated because I realized how incapable I was of being the perfect Christian wife and mom I wanted to be.
Friend, if you’re a mom like me, who is tired of striving to be perfect or good enough, then lean in. I have good news for us. There is more to being a better mom than the extremes of striving for perfection or simply embracing the mess. The good news is that God’s grace is all we need. God’s grace covers our weakness as moms, and He gives us the strength to become the better moms that He is calling us to be.
Just as God is using us as moms to shape our children, God is using our children and motherhood to shape us. Its okay to come as we are, but our calling is far too important for us to stay there. If we want to raise children who live in the freedom found in being loved by God, then we have to know the freedom for which Christ has set us free.
Before we get started, I want you to know that I am on this journey alongside you. There’s still much more for me to learn. That being said, there are a few heart-changing and grace-filled truths that God has been teaching me and I am so excited to share them with you.
My prayer and hope is that this bible & book study will spur you on, encourage and inspire you to keep going, empower you for the calling of motherhood, and remind you that you are not alone. We are in this together!
Becoming a better mom is not what you may think. The way to becoming a better mom starts not with what we are doing, but with who God is inviting us to become. Are you ready to discover all that God wants to do in you? Me too. Let’s dive in.
